Ron's Joy
Ron was my brother, 10 years older but decades wiser. To me, he was super Ron, I never consciously thought that, but It became obvious when I realized he was gone. When I thought about our family in the future, he
was always there. I admired Ron for so many things but a few things really stood out. He took joy in three major things. Let me start with number three.
3. He loved his work, ever since he was a teenager he wanted to be a cop.His Senior quote in HS included these words, “Ron will probably be a cop or a Mafia hitman” Thankfully he chose the high road. I was so
honored at twelve years old to be included in his background interview, I though “My brother is going to be a trooper, that is so cool.” and he was cool. He took everything with ease and always kept a level head. He also
wanted to be on the K-9 unit. When I first met my husband, we hadn’t even gone on our real date yet. I picked him up and told him “we’re going to meet my brother” You see, my husband wanted to be a police
officer since he was a teenager & he also wanted to be on the k-9 unit. They immediately hit it off and have ever since. But who didn’t hit it off with Ron? Only the guys he brought down, and they may have even liked
him too! Ron loved his job with the good and the bad. He was meticulous about his work and he had a true joy about what he was doing.
2.He loved his family, Nicole was the sun and he was the earth in orbit around her, then came his moon, Cora lee was his crowning achievement and he would not hesitate in telling you. He & Nicole were making that
home a beautiful place for her to grow up and enjoy the beauty of life. Nicole was so good for him, just what he needed and Cora was the one missing piece of Rons' puzzle, what a perfect fit they all were. Ron Was
fiercely loyal to his family, My Mom & Dad were getting even closer than ever with Ron, And since my sister Cathy and I have small children, all of us were finding so much joy in the prospect of them growing up
together with Lens' two older children, Dave and Jazz blazing the trail. Ron loved Nicole and he he loved his “Pippy dippy” this was another source of great joy for him.
1. This most important area of joy for Ron that brought the rest of it into focus was his faith in Christ Jesus. He loved the Lord and more recently than ever he wanted to know about the things of God, the hows and
whys of everything. He would call us to tell us about a preacher on TV or to ask a question about the Bible. He read a lot about the church and Christ and he wanted Cora to know these things too, he wanted to train up
his child in the way she should go. Ron found absolute joy in God. When Ron and Nicole got married, Ron hand picked the readings and I was very much honored to read scripture at my big brothers wedding, because
not only did I represent Ron and Nicole I represented Christ also. This is the passage he chose, and more importantly this is what he believed.
I John 4:7-19
Beloved, let us love one another for love is of God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God He who does not love does not know God for God is love In this the love of God was manifested toward us
that God has sent his only begotten son into the world that we might live through him. In this is love not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his son to be the substitute for our sins. Beloved, if God so
loved us we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time, if we love one another God abides in us and His love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us because he
has given us his spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as savior of the world Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in Him and he in God. And we have known and
believed the love that God has for us. God is love and he who abides in love abides in God and God in Him.
Because of Rons belief, we know that he is in Glory with our heavenly father, and I know I will see him again someday, so this is not a good bye, for by the sacrifice of Christ on the cross I know it is just a “see ya
later”
So Ron, I’m sure all of the questions you had about God here, are being answered there and I know you’ll fill me in when I get there. Thanks for being such a great big brother, I love you and I’ll see ya later!
